Hi, I’m Jessica Sabatini. I have been an actor, coach, writer, director, producer, teacher, speaker, expert, wife, mother, gardener, and gimp. It’s been a wild ride, but through it all, I’ve tried to be as authentic as possible.
I’m currently working on my first novel (Have you ever heard that before?). I use this blog space to help me get my voice out as a writer, and not trapped inside my body pressing against my soul with a desire to be fully expressed.
Sometimes I write in present, sometimes in past. Sometimes I write in first person, sometimes in third. Sometimes I write fiction, sometimes I write nonfiction and my readers find out a lot of intimate details about my life.
What I Write
I write about my healing journey, supernatural adventures (both fiction and nonfiction), and the gritty truth of being authentic in a superficial world.
December 2, 2016, a traumatic brain injury (TBI) dramatically changed the trajectory of my life. (Read “SLAM! The Story of Hitting My Head”) It didn’t have to come to that. The Universe provided plenty of warning signs; plenty of opportunities to amend my ways.
Just a year earlier, I slipped on a puddle and landed so hard, my body made a crunch sound that echoed through the ears of several bystanders. Before that was shingles which came after the stress-induced ulcer, but before the adrenal fatigue.
However, the head injury truly took the cake and brought my entire life to a complete stop. Up until that point, I was always in a rush. I knew that I needed to change. I would say to people, “I know I need to slow down and do less, but I just don’t know how.”
It was as if a gear inside of me had been set into perpetual motion and was gaining momentum to the point of a runaway train. Nothing could stop it until a crash and derailing.
What’s the Point?
This is a kind and loving Universe, but if you don’t listen the first eight times it tries to give you a message, it may quite literally knock you on your ass and slam your head against a wall.
The stories I share are meant to inspire anyone facing the challenge of listening to your highest self to access the courage to honor your truth in a world of commands and demands. There is so much more to life than what you’ve been told. Give yourself permission to fully feel your feelings, if nothing else.
I believe in the magic and power of words; my words, your words, the words said to us. I actively practice this magic and power through my writing and daily life.
So, read, write, feel, express, get centered, reach out, but above all, listen to that still small voice inside, and do what it says. Or else.
